TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo is confirmed not to join the pre-race parade of MotoGP Mandalika on Wednesday, March 16, in Jakarta. The parade plan became a public spotlight on social media.
“No convoy attended by the President,” said Presidential Secretariat Head Heru Budi Hartono to Tempo on Tuesday, March 15.
Previously reported, Jakarta Metro Police prepared security measures for the "Road To GP Mandalika" motorcycle parade in the capital. The President and the racers were said to ride through the city before the paddocks head to Lombok.
Jakarta Traffic Police Director Sr. Comr. Sambodo Purnomo Yogo said today, March 15, that the parade will be attended by 80 riders, consisting of 20 MotoGP racers, national racers, and representatives from motorcycle manufacturers in Indonesia.
Sambodo explained that the Jakarta MotoGP parade will take place tomorrow, March 16, at 10:00-11:00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB), starting from the Merdeka State Palace to Hotel Indonesia, Central Jakarta. President Jokowi is scheduled to see off the parade.
