TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno said Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia or MotoGP 2022 in Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) is the proper showcase to promote authentic cuisine of the archipelago.
“This is proof of the diversity of the Indonesian wealth that should be proud of and celebrated with the global citizens, as well as becomes one of the backbones of Indonesia's creative economy,” he said in the launching event of ten food trucks to promote culinary arts at the MotoGP event in Jakarta, as quoted in his official statement received Sunday evening, March 13.
According to him, local wisdom and various spices must be shown in the international event which will be the center of world attention as it will attract 400 million people.
Sandiaga also mentioned that there will be culinary delights from 34 provinces in Mandalika.
“This culinary promotion effort is part of the Spice Up The World program because the government wants to develop Indonesia one of the leading gastronomic destinations that must be promoted through culinary products,” he added.
He said the culinary sector created around 42-45 percent of jobs so increasing the culinary strength of Indonesia to a global level by taking advantage of the international racing event is necessary.
The ministry planned to collaborate with Bango to hold the 2022 Festival Jajanan Bango or FJB (Bango Snack Festival) in order to introduce the culinary variety of the archipelago.
“I hope that through the food trucks and FJB, we can improve services by 20-30 percent of the culinary transactions there. Because we want to create around 35,000-50,000 new jobs as part of the economic revival in Mandalika,” said Sandiaga Uno.
