TEMPO.CO, JakartaPresident Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said the mix of water and soil from 34 Indonesian provinces at the zero point of the new capital city or IKN Nusantara has its particular meaning.

“This is a symbol of our diversity and the strong unity between us in order to build the capital of Nusantara,” said the President in his speech during the ritual event, Monday, March 14.

He expressed gratitude to all parties who have helped to realize the capital development. He also hoped that support for the project could continue to flow from various agencies and communities.

“We pray that the guidance and blessings of Allah will provide ease and smoothness for us in building the capital city of Nusantara,” the state head remarked.

The soil and water combined in Kendi Nusantara or Nusantara jug were brought by governors from 34 provinces throughout the archipelago. They were taken from places that are considered to describe the uniqueness and local wisdom of each region.

The event was also attended by 15 traditional leaders of East Kalimantan. They carried out a traditional procession for Jokowi and his entourage before the Kendi Nusantara ritual.
