Aceh Hit by M 5.2 Earthquake, BMKG Announces

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) on Thursday, March 10, reported that Meulaboh, Aceh, had been struck by a magnitude 5.2 earthquake. The epicenter was 41 kilometers southwest off the coast of Meulaboh.
The quake, the agency detailed, originated from 15 kilometers below the ocean floor and was measured to be IV in the MMI scale.
The shaking was reportedly felt in the surrounding areas such as Calang, Banda Aceh, Tapak Tuan, and Sigli, in various power.
BMKG assured that initial reports confirm that the quake had not triggered a tsunami warning.
