TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Flag carrier Garuda Indonesia announced a partnership in the form of a codeshare agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) flag-carrier Emirates which will see the two airliners expand flights to 16 routes in Indonesia, the Middle East, and Europe.
Garuda president director Irfan Setiaputra said the codeshare agreement was a follow-up to an MoU signing in November of 2021, Antaranews reported.
"Bringing more seamless accessibility of flight services to more destinations is our main focus to provide added value to customers," said Irfan in his statement on March 10. "As a strategic partner, Emirates will provide access to a wider choice of international destinations and improve service convenience."
Through this partnership, Garuda customers will be able to obtain a variety of flight networking accessibility to destinations served by Emirates such as Dubai, Paris, London Heathrow, Manchester, Milan, and Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Emirates customers will also be able to choose flight connectivities to destinations served in Garuda Indonesia Jakarta and Denpasar flight hubs such as Denpasar, Surabaya, Makassar, Balikpapan, Manado, Medan, Padang Solo, Jakarta, Surabaya, and Makassar.
“This partnership aligns with Garuda Indonesia’s commitment towards recovering the national economy and connecting Indonesia to the world,” he said.
