TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The ceiling of Kemang Lippo Mall, South Jakarta, on Saturday, March 5, was collapsed. A number of visitors were reported to have been injured by the falling ceiling debris.
The ceiling in the shopping center was collapsed following the strong wind during the rain in Jakarta this noon.
Head of the South Jakarta Fire and Rescue department, Herbert Plider Lumban Gaol, said that the collapsing ceiling was at the atrium of the mall.
The mall was in operation during the incident. The debris of the collapsed ceiling hit several visitors and they were immediately admitted to the hospital.
"Several victims were taken to be given first aid to Brawijaya hospital, accompanied by the management," Herbert said Saturday, March 5.
The evacuation of the collapsed ceiling was underway and the officers were sterilizing the area.
