Indonesia-Kenya Make History as Trade Value Hits US$500mn

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - For the first time in history, the trade value between Indonesia and Kenya reached US$500 million. The trade value is higher by more than 35 percent of that in 2020.
In the bilateral trade, Indonesia recorded a surplus of more than 90 percent in 2021.
Although an uptrend in the two nations' trade has been seen since 2016, it has been rising higher since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
Therefore, the Indonesian Embassy in Nairobi aggressively supports the market penetration of Indonesian products in Kenya.
The Indonesian Ambassador to Kenya Mohamad Hery Saripudin said that the Embassy in Nairobi would continue to support Indonesian companies seeking to ship their products to the Kenyan market.
"We open up as many opportunities as possible for Indonesian companies who want to send samples of their products to be displayed at the Soko la Indonesia gallery at the Indonesian Embassy in Nairobi, so we can show them to prospective partners," he said.
Indonesian products that are liked by the Kenyan market include processed palm oil products, paper products, instant noodle products, textile products, and electronic products.
