TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta administration is set to commence the COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 6-11 years old on Wednesday at schools, according to the Jakarta Health Agency Head of Disease Prevention and Control, Dwi Oktavia.

“In the initial stages, the vaccination will be held at primary schools and equal level academic institutions. The schedule will be set together with school managements and local community health centers (puskesmas),” said Oktavia in a text message to Tempo on December 13.

The health agency is currently finalizing the mechanism and location of the mass vaccinations. She hinted that it could be held outside of schools.

“It can also be held in healthcare facilities or vaccination posts,” said Oktavia.

In previous news reports, a Health Ministry representative, Maxi Rein Rondonuwu, said the ministry is currently preparing to kick off the vaccination for children.

He said it will be held tomorrow and will involve 26.5 million children based on the 2020 population census before gradually holding vaccinations in other regions.
