TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) in Tanjung Priok of North Jakarta will be ready to operate in December 2021, claimed the city-owned property developer Jakpro president director Widi Amanasto. The stadium was scheduled to first host the soccer match between Indonesia's PSSI All-Star and Spain's U20 team in December.
Muhammad Taufik, the deputy speaker of the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD), supported the plan. “This is the legacy of our government, both executive and legislative,” he said at JIS, Friday, October 22.
He monitored the construction project of the stadium, which will be the headquarters of Jakarta's soccer team Persija, in Papanggo along with other council members, including Suhaimi from the PKS faction, Basri Baco (Golkar), Wibi Andrino (Nasdem), Anggara Satro (PSI), and Farzandi Fidiansyah (PAN).
Jakarta International Stadium is reportedly to be one of the 10 largest and grandest stadiums in the world. It is also likened to Santiago Bernabeu stadium which is the home of Real Madrid for its similar retractable roof.
