TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Mayor of Bekasi Rahmat Effendi on Tuesday said he plans to retire the operations of the emergency Covid-19 hospital built at the Patriot Chandrabaga Stadium at the end of this year once the growth of cases are under control.
For the past week the facility that is able to accommodate 237 patients treated zero coronavirus patients. This is a stark contrast to the time when the emergency hospital treated double its capacity during the surge after this year’s Eid al-Fitr.
“If it is clear by December we will retire the facility,” said Effendi on September 28. “However, the capacity will not be reduced now. We will wait for the end of the second semester.”
According to the local health agency records, Bekasi logged a 2.2 percent bed occupancy rate for Covid-19 patients in every hospital in the region with ICU occupancy logged 6.3 percent.
There are 43 people undergoing self isolation and hospital treatment with Bekasi City currently considered a green zone while the rest remains to be a yellow zone.
