COVID-19 Vaccination Target in Papua PON Reaches 62%: Health Minister Budi

TEMPO.CO, JakartaHealth Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said the coverage target of COVID-19 vaccination in Papua regions hosting the National Sports Week or PON had reached more than 62 percent.

Based on regulations, Budi said sports events are allowed to be held in areas with the coverage of the first dose of vaccination of at least 60 percent.

He outlined that 406,531 people or 62 percent of 648,622 targeted people in three PON locations had been vaccinated. “Thirty nine percent or 253,474 people have received the second dose,” Budi added.

The vaccination coverage in Merauke regency, Jayapura city, and Mimika regency was already above 60 percent, while that in Jayapura regency and Keerom regency was still at 57 percent and 54 percent, respectively.

“Along with the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the National Police (Polri), we are accelerating the vaccination rate in Jayapura and Keerom to 60 percent,” Budi said.

The Health Minister also ensured that the supplies of COVID-19 vaccines in Papua were sufficient.
