TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia has finally bagged its first gold at the Tokyo Paralympics. The medal was won by Leani Ratri Oktila and Khalimatus Sadiyah from women's double's SL3-SU5 at the final held in Yoyogi National Stadium, Tokyo, Saturday, September 4. They defeated Chinese athletes, Cheng He Fang/Ma Hui Hui, with 21-18, 21-12 scores.

The achievement was considered historical since besides it was the first gold for Indonesia at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, it was also the first gold won by Indonesia's para-badminton in the Paralympic debut.

Other than the gold medal from Leani Ratri Oktila and Khalimatus Sadiyah, Indonesia, today, also managed to collect silver and bronze medals from the para-badminton. The silver was won by Dheva Anrimusthi and the bronze by Suryo Nugroho.

Para-badminton still have chances to bag golds. Tomorrow on Sunday, Sept. 5, Leani Ratri will compete at the final of two different games.

Indonesia has previously collected one silver and two bronze medals at Tokyo Paralympics from other sports. Ni Nengah Widiasih from women's 41kg class of para-powerlifting won the silver, while the bronzes were bagged by Saptoyogo from men's para-athletic and David Jacobs from men's para-table tennis.
