TEMPO.CO, JakartaPresident Joko "Jokowi" Widodo sent wishes to Muslims on the Islamic New Year or 1 Muharram 1443 Hijri which falls on Tuesday, August 10, 2021. He posted inspirational messages via his official social media account.

“The migration of the Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Medina has taught us a lesson to reflect on that it takes sacrifices to leave things that hinder progress. It takes togetherness, courage, and solidarity to overcome threats. Differences in social and cultural backgrounds are actually strengths,” the President wrote via his Instagram account @Jokowi on Tuesday, August 10.

He also called on the public to comply with the predetermined health protocols against Covid-19. The state head also said the community's compliance with the health orders reflects the spirit of hijrah or migration in the context of the Islamic New Year.

“The public compliance with the health protocols of wearing masks, maintaining distance, and limiting mobility reflect the spirit of hijrah in our daily behavior,” said Jokowi.
