TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian State Intelligence Agency (BIN) on Wednesday held a simultaneous mass-vaccination event for junior high (SMP) and high school (SMA) students across 14 provinces.
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo virtually monitored the Covid-19 vaccination that was held in Jakarta, Banten, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, North Sumatra, Riau Islands, Riau, East Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, and Papua.
“There are 49,000 participants that consist of 15,000 SMP students, 15,000 SMA students, and 19,000 general public,” said State Intelligence Head Budi Gunawan on July 14.
BIN is currently providing the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine for students aged between 12-18 years.
The government also conducted the door-to-door vaccination, which is also adopted by many other countries in the world. This service is provided by the government for people who do not have vaccination access and those who are afraid of leaving homes due to crowds.
Budi Gunawan hoped that the BIN Covid-19 vaccination will achieve its intended target and establish herd immunity, as supported by Jokowi since the beginning of this year.
