TEMPO.CO, JakartaJakarta recorded 7,505 new cases of Covid-19 today, June 24. The city's Health Office chief of Disease Prevention and Control, Dwi Oktavia, said that the number was obtained from PCR swab tests on 25,575 specimens.

Of the specimens, 20,460 people were tested to diagnose new cases. The result came out with 7,505 positives and 12,955 negatives.

"The Jakarta Provincial Government urges all citizens to increase vigilance and be more obedient to health protocols, because of the increasingly fast transmission rate of Covid-19," Dwi said in a written statement, Thursday.

According to Dwi, today the Jakarta government also conducted antigen tests on 5,053 people, resulting in 776 positives and 4,277 negatives. But the test antigen results are not included in the official daily count, and they have to be re-tested using the PCR method.

Jakarta's total caseload has now reached 494,462. The number of active cases stands at 40,900. To date, the capital has recorded 8,112 Covid-19 related deaths.

"We can't let this continue. We have to be vigilant and prevent the spread of Covid-19 together," she said.

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan had previously decided to tighten restrictions on community activities or (PPKM Mikro). Restrictions are now imposed in all sectors, from offices to entertainment venues.
