TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir on Monday paid a visit to Jakarta’s Istora Senayan where COVID-19 vaccination program for the elderly was being conducted.
The SOEs Ministry has partnered with the Indonesian Health Ministry and the Indonesia Healthcare Corporation for the vaccination of a demographic that Thohir said was on the government’s list of priority.
“The elderly group is the most susceptible and must be prioritized to be vaccinated,” said Erick Thohir on March 8.
This vaccination program was initiated by the Joint Vaccination Center, which according to Erick Thohir was initiated by the SOEs ministry and aimed at easing the public’s access towards the COVID-19 vaccines and broaden the scope of the program.
The vaccination center program will also be made available in other regions other than the capital city. “Similar to what we have commenced in Jakarta, we will also partner with regional governments that need [the vaccination program] to be boosted. And of course the Health Ministry,” said Erick Thohir.
This vaccination center is eyeing to vaccinate 5 thousand people every day for four consecutive months.
