TEMPO.CO, JakartaJakarta's Mass Rapid Transit company or MRT Jakarta announced the changes in the train schedule during the enforcement of the micro-scale community activity restrictions (Micro PPKM) in the capital city. On weekends, the train’s operating hours would be limited.

The corporate’s Operations and Maintenance Director Muhammad Effendi said the Ratangga train operations on weekdays or Monday until Friday would be from 05:00 to 22:00.

“And on Saturday-Sunday (weekend), it will be from 06:00 to 20:00,” he said in a written statement, Wednesday, February 10.

The central government imposed the Micro PPKM on February 9-22, 2021, to curb Covid-19 cases. Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan was also determined to follow the central government's policy by extending the Large-Scale Social Restriction or PSBB.

Effendi said that the new operating hours would be effective starting Thursday, February 11, based on the Decree of the Jakarta Transportation Agency Head No. 65 of 2021.

The arrival time between trains or the headway during weekdays would remain at 5 minutes during peak hours from 07:00 to 09:00 and 10 minutes outside the peak hours.

MRT Jakarta still limited the number of passengers, which was 62-67 people per car or 390 people per train trip. “The changes in the train schedule are a form of support to the government's efforts in tackling the further spread of Covid-19,” Effendi said.
