66 Elderlies in Jakarta Nursing Home Infected with Covid-19

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Transportation Office with and medical officers evacuated 66 elderly patients from the Budi Mulia Tresna Werdha Social Home, in Cengkareng, West Jakarta after they tested positive for Covid-19. The elderlies were taken to the Duren Sawit Special Hospital in Jakarta Timur.

"We evacuated them early this morning using four school bus units, straight from Cengkareng to Duren Sawit Hospital, to be isolated," Jakarta's Transportation Agency's School Transportation Management Unit (UPAS) head Ali Murthadho said on Tuesday, December 22.

The 66 elderly people were confirmed to have Covid-19 after taking swab tests. Most of them are elderly who live in the nursing home, conducting their routine activities there. Many of them are on wheel chairs.

"They are in a vulnerable age range," Ali said.

Endang, the PR officer at Duren Sawit Special Hospital, was contacted by phone. However, she was unable to provide a statement yet.
