TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi said the government had received 1.2 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine made by Sinovac on Sunday, December 6. The president said that this month the government will also procure 15 million doses of vaccine in the form of bulk raw materials.
"Later it will be processed further by Bio Farma," Jokowi said in a video broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat YouTube account.
Jokowi said the government is still trying to bring in 1.8 million doses of ready vaccines and 30 million vaccines in bulk raw materials to arrive in January 2021.
The Presidential Secretariat's YouTube account posted a video announcing the arrival of 1.2 million doses of the vaccine at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Cargo Terminal, Tangerang at 21:30. A number of white containers were seen unloaded from a Garuda Indonesia aircraft.
Jokowi is grateful that the vaccine has arrived and is available in Indonesia, hoping it would prevent further spread of the Covid-19. However, he stressed that there are still additional stages required by the Food and Drug Administration or BPOM before the vaccine can be distributed.
Jokowi asked that all procedures be followed, to ensure public health and safety, and ensure the effectiveness of vaccines.
"Scientific considerations and clinical trial results will determine when vaccination can stard," Jokowi said.
