TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Sunday urged everyone to remain disciplined with the coronavirus health protocols despite the arrival of 1.2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
“While the vaccines have arrived, we must persevere by abiding by health protocols,” said the seventh Indonesian President in Sunday’s broadcast. “Continue to wear face masks, maintain physical distances, and always wash your hands.”
The Presidential Secretariat Youtube account broadcasted the arrival of the Garuda Indonesia flight GIA810 at the Soekarno-Hatta cargo terminal that carried the COVID-19 vaccine doses produced by Sinovac Biotech.
Moreover, Jokowi explains that the government will import another 1.8 million fixed doses in January of 2021 and plans to import the vaccine’s 15 million raw doses in December and 30 million raw doses that will be processed by Indonesia’s pharmaceutical firm Bio Farma.
“Let me make it clear, the entire procedure of the vaccination can only begin after it undergoes a thorough check by the The Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM),” said President Jokowi who asserts that scientific considerations and the result of clinical tests will determine when the vaccination can kick off.
