TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government through the Covid-19 mitigation task force ensured that drugs for the coronavirus disease treatment are sufficient until December 2020.
“The government is procuring medicines to anticipate the need by December,” said Wiku Adisasmito, spokesperson for the task force in a virtual press conference at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
The availability of drugs for treatment is necessary to increase the virus handling in Indonesia other than increasing public discipline to implement the predetermined health protocol of wearing face masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands.
“The government has also readied laboratories and reagents stocks. At present, the government sets up 422 laboratories to examine PCR (polymerase chain reaction) and TCM (Molecular Rapid Test) throughout Indonesia,” added Wiku.
Wiku went on to state that the government prepared PCR reagent stocks for 795,000 specimens and 686,000 RNA reagents. The provision of drugs refers to the Covid-19 management protocol.
“Most of these drugs have been produced by the national pharmaceutical industry and their raw materials have arrived in the country since early April 2020. As of October 31, the drugs have been distributed to 34 provincial health agencies and 779 hospitals,” Wiku said.
