TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Erick Thohir, the chairman of national Covid-19 mitigation and economic recovery, explained there will be two Covid-19 vaccination programs in Indonesia, subsidized and non-subsidized. The price of non-subsidized or paid vaccination, he added, will depend on market dynamics.
“The dynamic price is high, depending on each seller. It is not me who set the price, but sellers,” said Erick in a video conference on Thursday, September 3.
However, he stopped short of detailing the price range for the non-subsidized immunization. According to Erick, vaccines that will be available for the people later will not only be produced by one company. Thus, the price will depend on the firm and related countries.
“Each country has its own interest to protect its people. Because we have not yet developed it (the vaccine), we depend on other countries,” Erick added, hoping Indonesia could immediately produce the Merah Putih Covid-19 vaccine.
However, Erick Thohir ensured that the government will provide a free Covid-19 vaccination program for people in need. The free program will be prioritized for doctors, nurses, and people based on data held by the government.
