Erick Thohir Details Prices of Covid-19 Vaccine

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Minister Erick Thohir said his side had calculated the cost of the Covid-19 vaccine. He also had details regarding the price.
“Our initial calculation is the vaccine costs US$25 (Rp365,000) to US$30 (Rp438,000) per person. But Bio Farma is recalculating the price. One person will later be injected twice with a two-week interval,” said Erick during a meeting with the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission VI on Thursday, August 27.
Erick, who also heads the Committee of Covid-19 Mitigation and National Economic Recovery, claimed he had two distribution schemes of the antibody, namely a free vaccination program for members of the national health insurance program BPJS Kesehatan and the independent one for economically privileged people.
He explained the price was set based on the cost of the vaccine raw materials purchased by the government, which was US$8 or Rp116,000 per dose. However, he predicted that it would drop to US$6-7 per dose in 2021.
On another occasion, Erick Thohir said there would be 30 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine by the end of 2020 obtained from the UAE’s G42 and China’s Sinovac.
