TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Popular streaming service Netflix is now accessible through internet providers under Telkom Group. This means customers of IndiHome, Telkomsel, and Wifi.id can access the platform’s contents starting today, July 7.
“Telkom appreciates a different approach used by Netflix for Indonesian markets, and so we give chances for Telkom Group customers to access a variety of entertainment contents,” said the Vice President Corporate Communication of Telkom, Arif Prabowo, to Tempo on Tuesday, July 7.
Arif said that Netflix had shown its strong commitment to be accepted by Indonesian people by taking several measures, such as ensuring features of access restriction to sensitive contents and age restriction.
In addition, the US-based streaming service provider sets a mechanism to handle customers’ complaints, including from the government or regulators within 24 hours or a certain period set by the authorities.
Netflix also committed to complying with the Self-Regulatory Code for Subscription Video-on-Demand Industry Content Code in ASEAN. Among the agreements is ensuring that contents do not violate copyrights and the Intellectual Property Rights (HAKI), not discredit certain communities, as well as free from child pornography and terrorism content.
“This partnership is an effort to develop digital business and further maintain the excellent customer experience of Telkom Group by providing various facilities and conveniences in accessing quality content. Telkom hopes Netflix can play a greater role in the advancement of national cinema by displaying more local shows in the future,” Arif said.
