Car Caught on Fire at DI Panjaitan Street, East Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A car was seen on fire on DI Panjaitan Street, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, Tuesday night. The car allegedly on fire due to a short circuit, said the Head of East Jakarta Firefighter Operations Section, Gatot Sulaiman, based on the results of the incident handling.
"The driver is overtaking a tanker, suddenly there was a fire coming out of the car's hood and it becomes bigger," he said in Jakarta, Wednesday morning, March 11, 2020.
The incident reportedly occurred at 23:03 near Jatinegara overpass.
The car with police number B 1190 TFE was driven by Kris Biantoro (54) with two passengers. The fire blazed from the front engine and then burned half of the minibus body.
"Temporary guess is there was a short circuit on the engine cables," he explained.
There were no victims in the accident, but the loss was estimated at around Rp100 Million. The fire was extinguished at 23:30 by eight firefighter personnel and a pumping fleet unit.
