Education Ministry to Announce National Exam Evaluation

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Expert Board of Education and Policy study Center (PSPK) Najeela Shihab said the education ministry will soon announce the result of evaluation regarding the alternative of student assessment if the national examination is officially revoked.

"[It] will be announced in 1-2 weeks," Najeela said to Tempo at the Education and Culture Ministry office in Central Jakarta, Saturday, November 30.

She said that the evaluation is aimed at improving the quality of assessment. Najeela said that she and the experts will keep supporting and collaborating with the ministry.

However, she was reluctant to reveal the substitute for the national exam. "Let's see in 1-2 weeks."

The Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Makarim planned to scrap the National Examination starting in 2021. The ministry is currently studying the alternative to replace the exam once it is officially revoked.
