Soekarno-Hatta Airport Prepped for Presidential Inauguration

TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - Some 4,000 joint personnel are deployed to secure Soekarno-Hatta Airport ahead of the inauguration of President Joko Widodo and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin on Sunday, October 20, as many of state leaders will visit Indonesia to attend the event.
Senior Manager Of Branch Communication and Legal of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Febri Toga Simatupang said the 3,899 troops consist of aviation security and police/military (TNI). "Added with the paskhas (Specialized Force Corps) officers of 100 people," he told Tempo on October 19.
Besides the security troops, he continues, the airport also set 2,800 CCTV cameras controlled by the Airport Operational Control Center (AOCC).
"The increase of security measure at Soekarno-Hatta Airport has been started from October 15 to 21," Febri said.
In addition, the airport increases its supervision, as well as security checks on objects, people and vehicles either on the land or in the air. Another measure taken is increasing the joint patrol with TNI and the Police.
"We also make sure the fitness of our human resources, especially the security officers, and make sure that the facilities work properly," he said.
The tight security measure, Febri says, aimed at serving a number of the state leader guests confirmed to land at the airport for attending the presidential inauguration in Jakarta.
He says that the international guests will pass through special track and VVIP room of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, adding that intensive coordination with presidential secretary, foreign affairs ministry, and TNI/Police, will keep going.
