TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Intelligence Agency (BIN) Chief Budi Gunawan says that Minister Wiranto’s attacker, Abu Rara or Syahril Alamsyah, was known to have collected knives for the past three months.
“We have monitored Abu Rara several times which started when he first collected knives. However, he had not entered the bomb-making phase. But [terror] patterns can also start with knives as weapons,” said the Chief of BIN at the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital (RSPAD) on Thursday, Oct. 11.
Budi Gunawan asserts that the stabbing against the Coordinating Minister of Political, Legal, and Security Affairs was commenced by a group linked to the JAD terrorist group in Bekasi.
The stabbing was initiated by Abu Rara, which had ties to the five people in Bekasi arrested for plans to conduct bombings.
The BIN Chief also said that movements by the JAD terrorist group had been detected ahead of the inauguration of President Jokowi slated on October 20th.
