TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) deputy chairman Zainut Tauhid Saadi has called for all Muslims and the public in general to accept any ruling delivered by the Constitutional Court on presidential election dispute.
“Because MK’s ruling is final and binding,” Zainut told reporters in Jakarta, Wednesday, June 26.
He said that the court’s ruling must be viewed as the best decision to end disputes related to General Elections, similar to Islamic Jurisprudence or Fiqh; hukmul hakim ilzamun wa yarfa'ul khilaf that means the court’s ruling is binding and removes disparity.
MUI, he added, appealed to all communities to remain calm, maintain peace, and not conduct violent act or other violations. “Uphold courtesy, peace, and good behaviors while delivering aspirations.”
He also called every party to revive the nationality brotherhood that had been damaged due to different political choices. The sense of brotherhood must be developed in order to actualize a safe, peaceful life that is blessed by God the most powerful.
Zainut further appreciated all parties, especially presidential and vice presidential candidate for deciding to take a legal way in solving the election dispute. That was a form of constitutional awareness and a highly commendable attitude of statesmanship.
“Moreover, the settlement process of election dispute through the legal educates the public to perform democracy in a healthy, mature, and dignified way,” he concluded.
