Police Assign 5,000 Men to Secure Presidential Debate

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metro Police will dispatch 5,000 officers to secure the presidential debate. The debate will be held at the Shangri-La Hotel this Saturday, March 30.

Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono said the security plan has been approved by the KPU and the Bawaslu.

He said that the officers are from different forces of the TNI, the police, as well as officers from the Jakarta provincial government.

To anticipate unwanted incidents, the police will also hold a joint-patrol to prevent potentials disturbances.

The presidential debate this week, which would be the fourth, will only have the president's candidate; Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and Prabowo Subianto. The debate's theme will be focused on ideology, government, security and defense, as well as international relationships.
