TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice presidential candidate Sandiaga Uno said President Joko Widodo or Jokowi agreed that the peaceful election campaign declaration held by the General Election Commission (KPU) was a wasteful event. Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto also agreed on the matter.
In the sidelines of the declaration, Sandiaga said he along with Jokowi and Prabowo discussed the event taking place at the National Monument (Monas) on Sunday morning, September 23. The three agreed that the ceremonial event was a waste.
"The three of us have talked about it and Pak Jokowi said, I think this is not so essential event. He agrees with us that this event is such a budget waste,” Sandiaga said at the KPU building, Jakarta, Sunday, September 23.

The former Jakarta deputy governor said he expected to save money in the midst of present economic conditions. He suggested such ceremonial events to be reviewed.
According to Sandiaga Uno, he, Jokowi and Prabowo also agreed that the program was not a good attempt considering it brought together supporters of different candidate pairs.
During the declaration event, Democratic Party Chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) walked out from the event. The party’s Secretary General Hinca Pandjaitan said SBY was disappointed for seeing many people wore political parties attributes because it did not in line with the agreement made between the participants.
