Jokowi to Announce Vice Presidential Candidate in Final Minutes

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) politician Hendrawan Supratikno, said that President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo will announce his vice presidential candidate in the final minutes of registration to the General Election Commission (KPU) as a political strategy.

"This is part of the political dynamics and the evolution of strategy," Hendrawan said on Friday, August 3, 2018.

General Chairman of the United Development Party (PPP) Romahurmuziy also said that Jokowi will register for the 2019 Presidential Election on Friday, 10 August. The registration period runs from 4 to 10 August and the announcement of vice presidential candidate will be made on August 9.

Deputy Secretary General of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Jazilul Fawaid, said that his party encouraged Jokowi to immediately announce the vice presidential candidate and register himself to the KPU.

"If you already register to the KPU, you cannot cancel your support," said Jazilul, yesterday.
