On October 24, 2017, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi signed the Regulation of the Minister of Transportation No. 108/2017 on the Implementation of People’s Transportation with the Non-Route Public Transportation. The regulation is valid since November 1, 2017, replacing regulation No. 26/2017.
However, a number of online taxi driver organizations rejected regulation No. 108/2017. They demanded the government to revise several articles.
As a result, the Transportation Ministry, the Office of Presidential Staff (KSP), and Indonesian Online Driver Alliance (Aliando) agreed that the regulation No. 108/2017 was suspended and the government is still doing the revision.
