TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded a magnitude 3.6 earthquake hit Sukabumi, West Java, at 06:22 a.m. local time today.
"BMKG monitoring result showed there were two aftershocks until 7 a.m.," said BMKG's Head of Public Relations Hary Djatmiko in Jakarta, Tuesday, May 1.
According to Hary, based on people's reports, the earthquake was felt in Sukabumi, Sagaranten, Curug Kembar, Cicurug, Cibadak and Warungkiara areas with the intensity scale of I SIG-BMKG (I-II MMI).

Hary said there had been no reports of damage caused by the earthquake to date. Based on the depths of its hypocenter, he said that it was a quake with shallow depths due to local faults.
The epicenter of the quake was at 7.33 South Latitude and 106.32 East Longitude, or 46 km southwest of Sukabumi City, West Java. The hypocenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers.
Based on the shakemap, Hary said, it was a weak quake and he urged people to remain calm.
