TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle [PDI-P] central board chairman Rokhmin Dahuri has likened President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo to one of the most influential Muslim caliphs, Umar bin Khattab, with regard to the president’s approaches towards his people.
“Jokowi’s leadership style to shake people’s hands wherever he goes without protocols, that makes him comparable to Umar bin Khattab,” said Rokhmin at the PDI-P office in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta on Sunday, April 8.

He added Jokowi's specific trait, which was not distancing himself from the people he leads, had rendered the party upbeat that the former Jakarta governor would be re-elected as president.
Rokhmin’s statement was a response to the recent hashtag that went viral, #2019GantiPresiden, which called on the people to vote for another presidential hopeful as opposed to Jokowi in the 2019 presidential race.
The hashtag was first introduced by Prosperous Justice Party [PKS] central board chairman Mardani Ali Sera, who claimed it was aimed at educating the people on politics.
“Oh, the people’s minds and hearts have fallen for Pak Jokowi,” said Rokhmin.
