TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo stated that he did not break any regulations in regards to his decision to appoint high-rank police officers to serve as acting official (Plt) governors in West Java and North Sumatra Provinces.
He deemed such a decision to suit existing regulations and mechanism. "I appreciate the criticism and suggestions. But I can justify the decision and I do not break any regulations," Tjahjo Kumolo said on Saturday (27/1).
Based on Home Affairs Ministry Decree (Permendagri) No. 74/2016 on Leave without Pay for Governor and Deputy Governor, acting governor can be appointed from senor high-rank officials of Home Affairs Ministry or Provincial administration.
"So what matters if that Acting Governor has to be echelon level I official and government apparatus. National Military/Police or Home Affairs Ministry officials are the same," he said.
Nevertheless, Tjahjo went on, he only made recommendation and President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo will make the call. "I am ready to be considered wrong or sanctioned, what matters is I have done everything by the book according to the prevailing mechanism," he continued.
