TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappennas) said that economic acceleration is one of an important element in Indonesia`s 2045 vision.
Bappenas head Bambang Brodjonegoro predicts that Indonesia’s economy will increase 6.4 percent per year. If the prediction comes true, Indonesia will be the country with a high income in 2034 up until 2045. The country’s gross domestic product (GDP) per capita is expected to be around US$29,000 which will rank 5th worldwide.
Bambang emphasized the importance of reindustrialization to achieve the goal. "Manufacturing industries must be able to grow 7.8 percent per year during the next three decades," he said during the 2nd International Conference on Indonesian Economy & Development (ICIED), Jakarta on Monday, August 14.
Therefore, the role of the manufacturing industry can increase from the current 21 percent to 32 percent in 2045.
The characteristic of the reindustrialization that must be embedded is an industrialization that can be integrated both upstream and downstream, which can be economically maximized. Through this integration, the productivity of small industries will be pushed forward.
The Indonesian economics is also hoped to be able to optimally utilize digital economics and to generally push economic innovations, as well as to improve the development and the implementation of science and technology.
