TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Have you ever felt disappointed because the burger you ordered does not as good as it looks on the menu list? If you are tired of such experience, you may try the burger sold at Republic of Burger owned by Edo Wikar. Edo opened his business out of the same disappointment towards burger sold at fast food restaurant.
“Burger that I know of has thick, juicy and tender meat, and exactly like the photo that is displayed,” said Edo to Tempo.
Starting out by opening booths in bazaars, Republic of Burger has now four branches in Jakarta, Tangerang, and Bandung. We visited the one in Kemang, South Jakarta, which operates since January.
“We want to present all the best burgers in the world,” said 26-year-old Edo when we have a look on the menu list.
In fact, each branch of Republic of Burger has some different menu.
We ordered the Ultimate Jack (Rp77,000.-), a new comer that makes mouth watery only by looking at its photo. We were also tempted by its composition: Australian Wagyu, cheese, lettuce, plus sauce mixed with Jack Daniel.
We had to be patient before our order finally arrived on our table. It took around 15 minutes.
“We only start grilling when there is order,” Edo said.
Well, it was worth it. The jumbo-sized Ultimate Jack came with layers of stuffing, making it looks messy and sexy at a time. I did not success in my first bite attempt, and I realized that there were fork and knife served alongside the burger.
Those two eating utensils helped me to land the pieces of the burger onto my tounge which soon started dancing. The typical aroma of the whisky can be smelled on the soft wagyu. I was so drawn into the delicacy of the Jack D sauce on the patty that I almost forgot to eat the other stuffings.
The bread was no less delicious. It was savory, because it was smeared with butter and slices of garlic before grilled. It tasted like a giant garlic bread. Unfortunately, I think that the amount of the lettuce was to much.
We also tried the Juicy Lucy Monster. This burger has additional chees inside the patty layer. Yumm.. the cheese melted on my mouth in the first bite. The fried onion and barbeque sauce added a harmony in the flavor of Juicy Lucy Monster. Fork and knife was also needed to tackle this monstrous-sized of the Lucy Monster.
Although the burgers here are photogenics, I suggest you to not wasting too much time before eating it. It is because the patty is far more tasty while its hot.
To refresh our mouth, we ordered Nutella Freeze, a mainstay drink at the republic of Burger. The Nuutella Freese taste light, suitable for you who don’t favor thick and sweet drinks.
There is also Funky Monkey, a new comer that combines banana, vanilla ice cream, and low-fat milk. Or, you can also wash away that oily taste after the burger with a Mint Mojito.
Republic of Burger has limited space both for parking and to eat. It makes people worry for not getting space to sit at lunch and dinner.
