Jokowi Visits Singapore, Discusses Cooperation Opportunities

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - During his visit to Singapore on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo met with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and President Tony Tan Keng Yam to discuss cooperation opportunities in various sectors.
Teten Masduki a member of the Presidential Communication Team, stated that both countries have agreed to establish cooperation in joint promotion and development of cruise tourism.
In addition, Teten said that both leaders also discussed cooperation opportunities in eradicating corruption, money laundering, and other cross-border crimes. Other important issues discussed in the meeting include cooperation in the field of defense and extradition.
President Jokowi also applauded the signing of three new cooperation agreements in the field of e-government, youth and sports, as well as cooperation between the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Singapore Business Federation, which could strengthen both countries' B-to-B partnership.
Teten added that Indonesia also expressed its appreciation towards the Singaporean government that manages to provide protection for Indonesians staying in Singapore.
