TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Yogyakarta Cultural Conservation Agency (BPCB) is set to provide educational facilities at Kedulan Temple, Kalasan, Sleman, Central Java, to introduce history about the temple. The initiative is taken after the historical site is decided to be a Center for Volcano Archaeology Study.
“The educational facilities will describe history about the temple since the temple was drown by Mt. Merapi eruption until it was restored,” said Wahyu Astuti, Protection Development and Utilization Section Head of Yogyakarta BPCB on Friday, as quoted by Antaranews.
According to Wahyu, excavation process is still ongoing to unearth the Hindu temple. The excavation is aimed to resurfaces the eastern fence and possible artifacts. A concept for the study center is also being assembled.
“The Center for Volcano Archaeology Study is targeted to finish in 2019,” Wahyu said.
