TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chairman of the Indonesian Electricity Lighting Industry Association (Aperlindo), John Manoppo, hopes that the Indonesia Industrial Machinery and Electronics Products Exhibition (IIME) 2015 will help improve cooperation between China and Indonesia, particularly in the electricity and the lighting industry.
"This is a good moment to provide insights to Chinese industrialists on how potential our domestic market is, so they can work together," Manoppo told Antara on Thursday.
The 35,000-MW power plant project over the next five years, he said, is the perfect opportunity to improve industrial cooperation between the two Asian nations.
Manoppo highlights Indonesia's large population that serves as a huge market share. He hopes that future collaborations with China can help absorb labor in Indonesia.
"The amount of workers absorbed by the industry could reach 200,000 people," he said.
Manoppo said there are currently three Chinese companies that have expressed interests in cooperating with Indonesian firms.
From January to April this year, China's exports value to Indonesia for electromechanical products has increased by 3.9 percent.
