Tony Abbot Repeats Appeal to Indonesia to Cancel Death Sentence

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott has again called on President Joko Widodo to show mercy on two Australian men facing death penalty, Myuran Sukamaran and Andrew Chan.
"My job is to try and stop the executions going ahead," the Prime Minister told the Australian Radio Network.
Last weekend, Indonesia executed six convicted drug smugglers by firing squad — five of them foreign nationals. Australians Myuran Sukamaran and Andrew Chan are facing the same fate over their role in the so-called Bali Nine drug smuggling ring.
Prime Minister Abbott has renewed his written plea to president Joko Widodo to accept requests for clemency on behalf of the two Australians. "I don't want to pre-empt what may or may not happen afterwards, but I think these two are well and truly reformed characters and I hope the Indonesians will accept that, acknowledge it,” he said.
