TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Andi Asrun, lawyer of sexual harassment victim in Jakarta International School (JIS), requested protection from the Witness and Victims Protection Agency (LPSK) due to potential threats towards the victim’s family for revealing the case.

"There are threats such as a text message urging the family to stop defaming the school," Andi said yesterday. He asked the LPSK to take care of the victim during investigation by the police.

"LPSK has more understanding about this. We asked for cooperation with investigators to take care of the victim," he said.

After talks for two hours with LPSK, Andi said his report was received well. For the next couple of weeks, the report will be processed by LPSK. If the potential threats increase, LPSK will place the victim’s family in a protection home. If not, LPSK will always provide protection for the victim’s rights such as medical and psychological supports.

The case was revealed when the victim’s family reported sexual harassment by several janitors in the school. The 6-year-old victim admitted of being harassed sexually in March 2014 in the school toilet. In the police investigation, it was found that there were bacteria inside the victim’s body. Two people, Agun Iskandar and Virziawan Amin, have been named suspects in this case.
