TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics and PT Microsoft Indonesia are working together to increase synergies to strengthen the implementation of information technology and digital transformation at the ministerial level.
Communication Minister Budi Arie Setiadi said the collaboration was important to realize the national digital transformation.
“The Indonesian Government believes that multi-stakeholder collaboration is highly needed, including through the partnership between the government and private sectors,” he said as quoted from the ministry’s official webpage on Thursday, March 14.
According to Budi Arie, The cooperation model between the government and the private sector can increase expertise, resources, and the latest technological innovations in implementing policies in the digital sector.
From the perspective of industry players, they can get the opportunity to open new businesses, increase market access, and expand service coverage.
Budi Arie believes that this collaboration can be beneficial to all parties. He urged global technology companies such as Microsoft to promote knowledge transfer through various collaborations.
President Director of PT Microsoft Indonesia Dharma Simorangkir hoped that the signing of the MoU could have a real impact on society. “We hope that through the signing of the memorandum of understanding can trigger innovations.”
Dharma also appreciated the ministry for working with them to strengthen the digital economy, especially in creating a new economy based on data and artificial intelligence.
The MoU between the Ministry of Communications and Microsoft Indonesia covers the development of digital human resources, strengthening government infrastructure and digitalization, strengthening the responsible management of artificial intelligence, strengthening the implementation and practice of personal data protection, and other areas.
The event was also attended by Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Nezar Patria, Secretary General Mira Tayyiba, Director General of Information Applications Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, Head of Human Resources Development Agency Hary Budiarto, and Chief Director of Telecommunications and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI) Fadhilah Mathar.
