TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Head of Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR) Ahmad Saroni will conduct a meeting with the Acting Governor of Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono. The meeting, scheduled on Thursday, will concern the condition of Kampung Bayam's former residents.
"I'm planning to go to the City Hall on Thursday," he said on Tuesday.
The NasDem Party politician also plans to invite the former residents of Kampung Bayam to convene with Heru Budi.
Sahroni said that the meeting is aimed at addressing the concerns and complaints by former residents of Kampung Bayam that have not been given the key to their Anies Baswedan-era housing.
"I want to ask directly to the Acting Governor about the progress [of housing for former residents of] Kampung Bayam," he explained.
Earlier, Sahroni visited those who are now living in the housing built on the complex of Jakarta International Stadium without a permit. According to him, the conditions in the flats were not humane.
“Therefore, I ask the Acting Governor Heru to resolve the problem within the 48-hour time limit. Failure to comply with that and I along will the former residents of Kampung Bayam will pay you a visit,” he said as quoted by Antara on Monday, Jan. 22.
Last Friday, the farmers community of Kampung Bayam (KPKBM) conducted the second mediation with PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) at the Mayor's Office of North Jakarta.
However, KPKBM’s attorney Juju Purwantoro said no solution was offered by Jakpro. The options for the displaced residents of Kampung Bayam remained the same; go back to the temporary housing they once lived in while waiting for the development of the Bayam flats or relocate to Nagrak flats. Some of the residents have gone for option two.
KPKBM, however, rejected both of the options. “Today’s meeting did not result in anything significant,” Juju said on Friday, Jan. 19.
The reason for this rejection, Juju explained, was the uncertainty of how long the residents must live both in the temporary housing and Nagrak flats. Hence, residents of KPKBM opted to live in the Bayam flats even without permits.
Residents of Kampung Bayam claimed the hey to their flats were promised ot be given in early 2023. KPKBM’s attorney Muhammad Taufik said Heru Budi had no authority to revoke Anies Baswedan’s policy in regard to Kampung Bayam residents during his time as Jakarta Governor. “Since he is just an Acting Governor, he’s not authorized to legally revoke [the policy],” he said on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024.
