1. Indonesia Pledges Houses for Asian Games 2023 Medalists

Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo announced that the government has prepared a house for every medalist of the 2023 Asian Games. He said this reward would not only be for gold medalists but also for bronze and silver medalists.

“[We understand] that the Asian Games is a very tough competition, so this [reward] is an order from President Joko Widodo,” Dito said after seeing off the Indonesian contingent for Asia’s biggest multi-sport event on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.

The 2023 Asian Games will be held in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8, 2023. A number of sports, such as football, would kick off early on Tuesday, September 19, 2023.

2. Jakarta Talks of Proceeding with National Projects Amid Status Change in 2024

The head of the Post-IKN Transfer Special Committee of DPRD Jakarta, Pantas Nainggolan, stressed that the national projects in Jakarta ought to proceed despite the shift of State Capital status to Nusantara in East Kalimantan come next year. 

"[The national project] cannot be stopped. The national programs have the purpose to give benefits to Jakarta residents and its environment so it's necessary for them to continue," he said during a meeting in Jakarta yesterday, September 19, 2023.

3. BMKG: Rain to Drench South, East Jakarta Today

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasted partly cloudy skies in Jakarta today, September 20, 2023, with a chance of rain in the afternoon. 

In the morning, all of Jakarta will be evenly greeted by a partly cloudy sky. However, rain is expected to greet South Jakarta in the afternoon, while the rest of the province remains partly cloudy. 

"Beware of rain potential with lightning and strong winds in part of South Jakarta and East Jakarta," BMKG warned.
