TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture on Monday announced there is 1,519 livestock across farms in East and Central Java that have been vaccinated against the foot and mouth disease (FMD). The Ministry’s spokesperson Kuntoro Boga Adi expects the number to increase as the government prepares to safely distribute livestock ahead of the Eid al-Adha celebration.
“Up to Monday noon the vaccinations against FMD in East and Central Java had vaccinated 1,519 livestock, which will continue to grow,” said Kuntoro in a video announcement uploaded on Youtube on June 20.
The mass vaccination of cattle in West Java, specifically in the Sumedang sub regency, will be followed by vaccinations commenced in other regions in parallel which are overseen by the Agriculture Ministry to control vaccine distribution, vaccination process, and progress.
There are currently 18,407 vaccinators in provinces that have reported FMD cases. The government said it will involve vaccinators from a variety of fields such as veterinarian, insimenators, and veterinarian university students.
