TEMPO.CO, JakartaJapan's government reopened Tokyo Tower on Thursday morning, May 28. The famous tourist destination had been closed for public since April 8, the day after Japan announced a state of emergency for the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Kyodo News, the 333-meter tower will be light up in changing colors after sundown until midnight to represent the hope of revival for Tokyo's tourism industry.

Tokyo Tower is allowing visits with health protocols to prevent coronavirus transmission. Visitors will have their body temperature checked at entrances, and anyone with a temperature above 37.5° Celsius are barred entry.

Visitors must also wear masks and implement physical distancing—standing on markers to keep apart between one another, especially on the observation floor.

Only four people can ride the elevator at the same time, facing the walls. If the wait is too long, visitors can also opt to take the stairs, keeping a distance between individuals.
