TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan sent 83 volunteers from various services of Jakarta Provincial Administration to Palu, Central Sulawesi, on the Pancasila Sanctity Day, Monday, October 1.
“All of you will leave on behalf of Jakarta residents. Don’t consider it as a sacrifice and burden, it’s an honor to represent Jakarta,” said Anies Baswedan in giving a speech to the volunteers.
Anies Baswedan said they would stay in Palu for 10 days to help and complete the first phase of post-disaster area recovery. After that, they will monitor the central administration in the field.
The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) said the death toll from the Donggala and Palu earthquake had reached 832 people. BNPB also said that the power outage made the communication network in Donggala and its surrounding areas unable to operate.
