TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Special staff for President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Armedya Dewangga reiterated the time when he became a victim of a robbery on June 8, in Mangga Besar area, West Jakarta. He fell victim to a group of motorcycle robbers.
This revelation just adds to the long list of victims of robbery in the streets of Jakarta. Previously, a Jakarta resident had his multiple million rupiah bicycle robbed. Now, Armedya’s robbery caused him to lose a secret state document.
According to Armedya, the suspects practiced an old trick often used to fool unsuspecting victims by warning them of a flat tire, which would lure the victims out of their vehicle.
After Armedya pulled over, he exited the car to check his car’s tires. However, at that time, he was unaware that one of the four suspects riding on three motorcycles had entered his car and snatched Armedya’s bag that contained his laptop, hard disk, and cash.
“The total loss is roughly valued at Rp25 million,” said Armedya, who immediately reported his case to the police.
He consequently lost a MacBook ME294, two mobile hard drives, and Rp3.3 million in cash. However, what worries him the most is that the hard drives in his laptop contained secret state documents considering that he works as Jokowi`s Presidential Staff in the field of management studies and strategic economic issues.
